The essentials
You can explore the project without accepting analytics. You decide whether your business has a public Penny listing. For a privacy question or request, email [email protected].
1. Who we are
The 1,000 Penny Project is a personal project started by Dave and owned and operated by Coduvo LLC (“Coduvo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in the United States. Coduvo is responsible for the information described in this policy for 1000pennies.com.
This policy covers the public project website, its optional analytics, and the records used for Penny listings and project totals. If you follow a link to a form, planner, or service on coduvo.dev, the Coduvo Privacy Notice explains that site’s practices. Customer services may also have separate agreements or notices.
2. Information we handle
- What you share: your name, email, business information, goals, and messages when you contact us. The project currently directs inquiries to Coduvo or email; it does not collect payment details through this website.
- Project records: a business’s Penny Number, name, website, logo, city and state, category, introduction, service or impact summary, joining date, hosting status, Founding Penny status, and public-listing preference.
- Website and security logs: technical details such as IP address, requested URL, time, response status, referring page, and browser information. These help us serve and protect the site even when analytics is declined.
- Optional analytics: if you accept, Google Analytics receives browser identifiers, page URLs and titles, referral information, browser and device details, approximate location, and interaction events such as page views, scrolling, and link clicks.
Please keep passwords, payment-card details, secret keys, and sensitive personal information out of ordinary email or public business descriptions.
3. How we use information
We use information to respond to your questions, understand your business and goals, manage participation, publish the business details you approve, maintain accurate project totals, operate and secure the website, and meet applicable legal obligations. With your permission, analytics helps us understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on consent for optional analytics and publication of your approved business story; steps you request toward a service agreement or performance of that agreement; legitimate interests in maintaining accurate records and a secure website; and applicable legal obligations.
4. Your Penny listing
A public listing can include the business details above on the Penny Wall and your individual Penny Page. Public information can be viewed, copied, shared, or indexed by others. Only provide material you have permission to publish.
You can participate privately. Private Pennies still appear as anonymous numbered entries and contribute to project totals; their public entries may show activity and Founding Penny status, but do not reveal the business name, website, description, or logo.
If hosting becomes inactive, a public listing may remain as part of the project’s history, marked inactive and without an outbound business link. Contact us to correct your details or make a listing private. Removing information from our public site cannot automatically remove copies held by search engines or other visitors.
Real Penny Numbers are permanent and are not reassigned. That does not prevent us from restricting or deleting personal information when required by applicable law.
7. Retention and security
We keep correspondence, participation records, technical logs, and backups for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, including providing services, maintaining project history, securing the site, resolving issues, and meeting legal or accounting obligations. The period varies by the kind of record and the circumstances. A change to a public listing may remain in restricted backups until those backups expire.
Our Google Analytics property is currently configured for 2 months of event-data retention and 14 months of user-data retention. The user-data period resets with new activity from that user. Google deletes expired data through its periodic deletion process. These settings do not limit how long standard aggregated reports remain available, and they are separate from the 180-day browser preference and cookie settings. See Google’s retention explanation.
We use safeguards such as encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, and private backups. No website, email service, or storage system can promise complete security.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You can decline analytics, change your browser’s cookie settings, ask us to update a business listing, or request that a listing become private. An inquiry does not subscribe you to unrelated promotional email.
The site does not currently change a saved analytics choice automatically in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control browser signals. Use Cookie settings to decline or withdraw analytics.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a request. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing that was lawful. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable right.
Email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe what you need and the business or contact information involved. We may need to verify your authority before acting. If you disagree with our response, reply with “Privacy Request Appeal.” We will respond within applicable legal deadlines and explain any further complaint options, including a relevant privacy regulator where applicable. Please do not send identification documents unless we arrange a suitable secure method.
9. Children’s privacy
The project is intended for businesses, organizations, and adults interested in their stories. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it as appropriate.
10. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the project or its practices change. The date at the top will identify the current version. We will provide any additional notice or request renewed consent when applicable law requires it.
For questions about this policy, contact Coduvo LLC at [email protected]. The Terms of Use explain the project’s website and participation rules.
